Areena — Privacy Policy

Developed by Anis Achkar. Effective August 3, 2026.

Where your data lives

Everything you log is stored on your phone first. The app works fully offline and never waits on the network.

To back your data up, the app automatically creates a pseudonymous account for you the first time it can reach the internet, with no email or name attached. From then on your training data syncs to a server so it survives a lost phone. If you sign in later, that same data follows you across devices. The server runs on Supabase, our hosting provider. Your data stays only on the device while you are offline.

What is collected with an account

The server stores, linked to your account:

An account identifier.

If you sign in or turn on social features: your email address, and the name and handle you choose.

Your workout and training data: workouts, sessions, sets, reps, weights, stats, and settings.

Content you write: posts, comments, your bio, notes attached to workouts you send, and feedback you submit.

Gym locations you choose to save.

Location

Location is optional and used only while Areena is in the foreground. When you choose to pin a training place, Areena reads your position once and saves that pin. After you grant permission and save at least one pinned place, Areena may also request a brief foreground location fix when the app becomes active so it can switch to the nearest saved place. Live fixes are not stored or synced. Areena never tracks your position in the background.

Camera

The camera is used only if you choose to scan a friend's Areena QR code to follow them. Nothing is recorded or stored.

What is never done

No advertising. No tracking across other apps or websites. Your data is never sold.

Who can see what

Your training log is yours. If you turn on social features, your display name, handle, initials, and bio remain discoverable so other users can find you and request to follow you. If your profile is private, only followers you approve can see your posts, shared workouts, and the profile statistics you choose to publish. Comments you write on visible posts can be seen by people who can see those posts.

Deleting your data

You can delete your account and everything synced to it directly in the app, under Settings, then Delete account. Deletion runs on the server and removes your account and every row you own. Your data is kept until you delete it; there is no other retention period.
